The BBPA is working on several projects to enhance the enjoyment of the natural environment as well as provide educational opportunities.

  • Oyster and Scallop Farming - Oysters and Scallops were once plentiful in our bays.
  • Classes for Kids - Opportunities for kids to have fun while learning
  • Beach Clean Up Days - The B.B.P.A. periodically organizes days for volunteers to help clear our beaches of debris
  • Nature Walk - Walkways to allow the public view and learn about plants and wildlife on the barrier beach.
  • BBPA, CCE & DEC Study on Horseshoe Crabs This spring the BBPA volunteers worked with the DEC to count these valuable creatures at Pike's Beach. We also hosted a new research study done by CCE monitoring the movement of the crabs during the season.
  • BBPA Web Site - A communications tool for connecting our community and educating people about the Barrier Beach.
